Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki reunited for a video message thanking fans for their patience waiting for the series’ end.
One of the biggest television series affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic was the final season of Supernatural, with the last stretch of episodes delayed by the global health crisis.
Series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki reconvened via video chat for a quick announcement confirming the series’ return on The CW for Oct. 8. Both actors are seen now sporting their own quarantine beards in sharp contrast from their usual, clean-cut appearances as they make the joint announcement.
There will be seven new episodes upon the series’ return in October, leading to the conclusion of the 15th and final season on Nov. 19.
Previously, Ackles confirmed that the pandemic temporarily suspended production just as filming had begun on the season’s 19th episode. With two previously completed episodes unaired, this left a handful of episodes yet to be filmed, including the series finale. No start date for production to resume has been officially announced by The CW, but earlier reports indicated production would take place this month in Vancouver under strict guidelines to keep its cast and crew safe from the ongoing health crisis.
Airing on The CW, the final season of Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert. The series returns with new episodes on Oct. 8 at 8pm ET/PT.
