Broken cable caused Friday power outage – News – Daily Review Atlas
GALESBURG — A broken cable temporarily cut power to the Knox College campus and a total of 200 Ameren Illinois customers Friday morning.
According to an American Illinois spokesperson, the outage was first reported at 10:15 a.m. Friday. Most customers were restored by switching and were back on within 90 minutes. Fifteen customers remained out and were restored by 2 p.m.
The spokesperson said Knox College was affected by the initial outage.
Knox College Campus Safety said the power outage occurred due to a transformer issue near the Wilson House, and affected power throughout campus. All buildings experienced full or partial outages.
